Lucas Liska
Director & Trumpet

Lucas Liska is a versatile trumpet player with extensive musical experience across many genres. After hearing a recording of Al Hirt during his first trumpet lesson, the seed was planted and music became his passion. He participated in the DSO Civic Jazz Program throughout high school, which was incredibly influential to his musical direction. He began to play professionally before entering college.

Lucas began playing trumpet with the FCB upon entering Farmington High School in 2010 in the Farmington Concert Band and the FCB Big Band. He also played lead trumpet with the Farmington High School jazz band.

A Wayne State University graduate, he played lead trumpet in the big band, as well as its orchestra and theater productions. While at Wayne State Lucas had the privilege to share the stage with Marcus Belgrave, Danilo Perez, Randy Weston, Donny McCaslin, Sean Jones, Omar Sosa and others. He held the position of Solo Cornet in the award-winning Motor City Brass Band from 2018 to 2021. He has studied with Howard Kagen, Kris Johnson, Dwight Adams, and Walter White.

Lucas keeps a busy schedule performing and recording in the Detroit area.
